I like it! This has a much “cleaner” (more elegant?) look than the Blogger platform. As for display, it works/looks just fine for me (Firefox 1.5.0.12, Win/XP, 1024×768).

I may just take the WordPress plunge my-own-self!!

  • 2 Nose Jun 7, 2007 at 11:20

Looks good on MAC OSX and Safari.

Now get to work filling it up!!

    Sweet!

Looks good on a WinXP w/Internet Explorer 7 (and all updates) to me.

Dear SJS: I haven’t a clue what all the technical terms mean, but I do have Windows Vista and the graphics and overall appearance are very fine, indeed. Also, the background allows for slightly easier reading. Thank you, sir.

This is unrelated, but would the aircraft under the title bar be an “AWAC” type of aircraft? Thank you.

    Deborah -
That would be the mighty War-Hummer, aka E-2C Hawkeye although AWACS is a term the light-blue suit (Air Force) folks use. If pressed we usually say we are a C4I/Battle Management platform…

BZs for p!mping your Wordpress site. I am forced to use WinIE-6 for buisness reasons — the content looks pristine from my side of the port hole.

Wordpress seems like a wonderful way to go — easy reading, clean format, etc. Lex’s Main Deck and his Flighdeck spot are good examples. I also like http://bookwormroom.wordpress.com/. BW has a feature laden site that I hope to emulate someday, if I

    E-V-E-R

    get some free time.

I commend you on your Midway postings. They were a great resource. I served on the SF BOMC Committee. Last Saturday we had 260 guests, including 35 BOM Vets and CNO, all ensconced at the Marines’ Memorial Club. ‘Twas a most wonderful Dining-Out.

I echo Buck - clean, great graphics, like all the finer points (like the way the date of each post is done). Oh, and I’m on Explorer 6.0.2 on a 19″ flat panel monitor set to 1024 x 768 - and the site looks terrific. NICE job!

  • 10 MissBirdlegs in AL Jun 7, 2007 at 19:06

Looks good to me, but what do I know? I’m on WinXP, Firefox 2.0, with a 17″ flat panel monitor, set to 800 x 600.

  • 11 Michelle Jun 7, 2007 at 21:20

Looks good to me SJS. Although it does kind of remind me of … Lex’s
Actually the old site looked good to me too, so whatever does it for you I guess. Honestly, I think I like the look of the other one better. I know, I know, there’s one in every crowd.
Wait a minute, no comment preview here??

BTW I probably have some of the older technology around here. Let’s see Windows 2000, Exploer 6.0. something and an ancient monitor at the moment cuz my puter has gone all screwy on me lately.
I do like the option of the faces though; nice for those of us who are html challenged

Hmmm, comment previews — good point, thanks Michelle

Nice job SJS! I like it much better in Wordpress. Looks clean and sharp and loads nicely on my ancient Win98 laptop with Firefox 2. Layout is very nice.

  • 15 Mike Jun 7, 2007 at 22:10

Looks good to me. The old site wasn’t bad, but this one has a very nice crisp layout. Also dig the image of the War Hummer at the top. It’s not bad…for a Navy plane.

  • 16 Michelle Jun 7, 2007 at 22:30

    Thanks!
Now can you make that work in the rest of my life… ask and ye shall receive?!

  • 17 Michelle Jun 7, 2007 at 22:35

BTW I do have one teeny tiny little problem.
Every time I try to post a comment, I get an error page. The comment posts but then I have to try to navigate my way back here. Through a cranky website.
But can you tell that I really like the faces?

  • 18 Steeljawscribe Jun 8, 2007 at 4:27

    Michelle:

Not sure what might be causing that as you aren’t tagged as a spammer and I haven’t heard of others having the same problem. Can you send me a screen shot offline of the website you’re directed to? That should help me narrow the search for a solution…

I like it a lot - clean and crisp, not too busy.

    Welcome to WordPress!

  • 22 xformed Jun 8, 2007 at 14:40

    SJS;

Didn’t WP give you the option of the “new” blogger format input? I’d do it if I was you…

I’d also place a link very near the top of the postings with a link back to the “old” blog.

    Looks great on FireFox 2!

  • 23 FbL Jun 8, 2007 at 15:09

Very nice! I like it–that lovely header if my favorite part so far. :)

And the CSFT are going to be excellent for driving certain people right up the wall…

  • 24 Steve Jun 8, 2007 at 15:37

Very nice theme/template! Of the thousands out there I found it extremely difficult to locate one that didn’t look like it was designed by Bart Simpson on an LSD trip. Finally gave up and settled on “Veryplaintxt” which is sterile it’s so clean. As Lex said, welcome to WP - it’s worth the initial pain.

  • 25 Steve Jun 8, 2007 at 15:41

SJS, this is what popped up when I hit post on the above comment. Hitting “refresh” got me back here where the comment had posted in spite of the error message. Not sure what caused it.

    Steve:

I suspect this is what Michelle was talking about as well. Presently wrestling with one of the spam plugins that I suspect is the root cause…

Being an ex Fudd pilot in VAW-11, 1964-1967, I made two WestPac deployments aboard CVS’ and accumulated over 300 traps, some in the most horrible night-time weather conditions… I kind of resent the fact that many present day NFO’s, not only VAW types but VF/VA and A-6 NFOs are claiming they “made” so many hundreds of traps, when in fact they were crew members who might have assisted the pilot during the actual landings. It was the guy up front or in the left seat that MADE the landings.
