Time Passages: VAW-122 (1 April 1967 – 14 March 1996)
Final log entry for the Steeljaws:
“My pennant is hauled down and stored. All records are in order. Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-TWO is hereby disestablished on this 14th day of March in the Year of Our Lord Nineteen Hundred Ninety Six”

Commanding
“Sic transit gloria mundi.”
Has it been oh so long? Three of the four squadrons I served in, and one complete Air Wing all gone…
Time to haul out the squadron video we made once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away…

Hard believe they axed the Fighting, Biting Steeljaws. It was a shock when I found out. The best squadron alone with all the carriers I cruised on. Man now I know how the dinosaurs felt.
It wasn’t without a fight, but the bean counters had their (myopic) way. Still lots of Steeljaws about these parts and we’ll always host a cold one when we meet.
