Flightdeck Friday: A Family Remembers a Father, Naval Officer and Former Vigilante B/N
A few days back I received a very nice note regarding an earlier Flightdeck Friday whose subject, the A5A Vigilante, is a favorite of mine.  Now, having been frustrated upon checking into VT-10 (ahem, many years ago) to learn that I’d missed the last class allowed to go Vigi’s, any story about Vigi’s will make…
The Secret History of Silicon Valley
One of the all time great things about writing a blog is the mail one gets offline – some genuinely interesting stuff comes our way that we may have missed out on in the comings and goings of a standard day. The Flightdeck Fridays in particular generate more than their fair share of folks sharing…

SJ:
Huge gratitude for your work on this. First cold one’s on me! As a kid growing up in innocence in Coronado names like Ring, Thach, Laird and others were simply neighbors, friends of my parents or schoolmates. It wasn’t until much later that I realized who these people were!
The internet now has many wonderful interviews with many Midway participants, one which has caught my eye is from the viewpoint of one of the NAP’s from Yorktown:
